If you wish to visit Canada for business, tourism or meeting family, you can apply for a Visitor Visa, or Temporary Residence Visa (TRV). TRV authorizes you to enter Canada and reside for a limited period of time.

Validity

A visitor’s visa can be a single or multiple entry with validity up to 10 years. It allows you to live in Canada continuously for up to 6 months.

Eligibility

Apart from visiting purposes, you can also apply for a TRV if you intend to study in Canada for up to 6 months in short-duration, or search for a job. Both online and paper-based applications are acceptable.

The IRCCofficer will consider your overall profile and application circumstances before approving your application. Typically, they will evaluate based on the following factors:

  • Your documents and passport (or, other similar travel documents).
  • Proof of funds to cover your expenses during your planned stay.
  • Ties with your home country and intent to leave: This is one of the most critical factors the assessment officer will examine. They will evaluate your employment history, property, financial assets (fixed and liquid), and family background to determine whether you would possibly leave Canada after the validity of your stay.
